At the Sea fridge magnet – Kayta Ivanova

Hi every one,

Today is the 1st July. I can’t believe that we are already in the second half of 2014. The summer arrived in Ireland and we are enjoying these sunny days. Inspired by the beach and sunshine Katya created a fridge magnet and she is going to share her process with you.

What you will need:

  • die cuts- I used circles, but you can use ovals, squares, rectangles or whatever you like
  • scrap booking papers
  • cheesecloth
  • twine
  • magnet tape
  • chipboard
  • foam squares
  • pearls
  • brads
  • distress ink

Step 1
We will start with the base of our magnet. We will need 5 circles all together- 2 cardstock circles (big one and small one), 3 scrapbook paper circles (2 big ones and 1 small one)

Step 2
You can distress all the edges of the papers- this step is optional.

Step 3
Next we are going to fussy cut some details from the papers. In my case it’s a sentiment, shell and star fish

step 3

Step 4
Now we will take 1 big cardstock circles and 1 paper circle and glue them together. I have added some cheesecloth to imitate a net and some chipboard. I fixed them with a stapler, don’t’ worry about the staples, we will cover them later and you wont see them.
step 4

Step 5
Using foam tape glue the smaller circle on, shifting it to the side before. I also added some brads, pictures again on foam tape, twine, seashells and pearls

step 5

Step 6
Cover the back of the magnet with scrapbooking papers, so you won’t be able to see the back of brads.

step 6

Step 7

Add the magnet tape at the back

step 7

And here is the finished fridge magnet!

We hope you liked this absolutely gorgeous summer project.

Happy Crafting,

Great finished result – I love it! One question: how long did it take to make this, from start to finish? I’m looking for something cheap and cheerful, easy and quick to put together. Thanks, and happy July 1st!

  3. Thanks Jaydee! I didnt time it to be honest, but I’d say about 40-50min.
