CHA Winter Release Party Review….

On Sunday the 3rd March we attended the Create With Kate CHA Winter Release Party. It was held in the brilliant location of Athlone, so nice and central for most.

We arrived to the shop laid out and full of the new goodies just in – so lots of temptation.

Crafting Ireland Crop Review

The first ever Crafting Ireland crop took place on Saturday the 26th May in the Athlone Springs Hotel. It was a glorious day, much too nice to be inside! However we still had some dedicated crafters who came along and had a great day.

We had a fantastic make a take demo with the new In the Bag die by Kate of Create With Kate. There was a little prize up for grabs on the best bag too, just to make it that bit more fun. Kate also brought the shop along which I think I can safely say that everyone enjoyed a lot 🙂

Felicia then did a superb mini book class that was great for using up paper packs. You can see the tutorial for the mini book on Felicias blog here.

Timi then did a demo on creating a scrapbook layout using Inktense blocks. She showed how to use this fantastic product to get some amazing effects on pages. These techniques would also work for cards too.

This demo turned into a bit of a discussion about Inktense blocks vs the Inktense Pencils. Nicole had brought her pencils along so did a quick review on the pencils. Other mediums were also discussed such as the Portfolio Water Soluble Oil pastels. This discussion was great as everyone got to ask questions about products that they may not have considered using on cards, mini albums or scrapbook layouts before.

Nicole then also did a demo on the eCraft and showed how it works and the benifits and negatives of it 🙂

With lots going on and then people working on their own projects it was a fun and productive day. We did seem to bring home a lot of biscuits though, so everyone must have been working too hard to tuck in!

The day was wrapped up with a raffle. The tickets were the little tags on the bunch of keys & charms that everone got as they came in.

The raffle prizes were kindly provided by Create With Kate, An Siopa Bui, Crafty Cutting and Hill Agencies.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along, especially on such a beautiful day. We hope you all had a great time and enjoyed all the classes and demos.

Day 12!!

It’s the 12th and final day of the 12 Tags of Christmas! Tim’s day 12 tag can be found here. Don’t forget to post your tags up on our Facebook wall or email them in to us. You have until the 14th December to enter!! We will then pick one lucky winner for a Tim Holtz prize, kindly sponsored by Create With Kate. (Check them out for all your supply needs!!)

Nicole’s Tag

I loved the vintage shabby style of Tim’s tag today. I didn’t have any sheets of the tissue paper so I just got regular tissue paper and stamped some music notes on it and then followed Tim’s technique, using Mod Podge instead of glue and seal. I created a strange tissue tape flower, and stole some tinsel from my Christmas tree! I had none of the adhesive tape for the word ‘Wish’ but I used the silver mirror board again, and crumpled the letters a bit to get the same effect as on Tim’s tag. I had no doll part or wings or crown charms. So I changed the sentiment on the house form to ‘all things bright’ and added a star instead!

We really hope you have enjoyed Tim’s 12 Tags of Christmas and that you have also enjoyed playing along with us as we improvise our way through the 12 tags!! Make sure you post your creations to our Facebook wall by the 14th December!!

Day 11!!

It’s the second last day of the 12 Tags of Christmas! Tims Day 11 tag can be found here.

Nicole’s Tag

I loved the technique that Tim used on his tag today. The method of shrinking the plastic in the UTEE while coating it was fantastic. However I simply didn’t have the time today to do this. I have no large Christmas stamps so I stamped a sentiment and cut it out and inked it. I created a background similar to Tim’s and then came my big cheat! I took a trip over to the Graphics Fairy and downloaded a image of some holly and berries and a fantastic Victorian (and blue) Santa!

I printed these both out and added to my tag. I put a layer of glossy accents on the holly to get a glassy look like on Tim’s tag. This little cheat made my tag quick and easy to make. I am looking forward to having some free time to try out the fantastic technique though!!

Day 10!!

Only two days left to go after this tag!! You can see Tim’s Day 10 tag here. How are you all getting on with your tags? Make sure to post them to our Facebook wall to be in with the chance to win a fab Tim Holtz prize!

Timi’s Tag

I liked today’s tag, although I haven’t really followed Tim’s directions. Mine turned out a lot simpler, but anyway I like it.

Nicole’s Tag

I loved Tim’s tag today, it was very vintage Christmas looking. I had fun with the technique for making the baubles that he did also. I didnt actually have packaging tape that was wide enough for my images so I just slightly overlapped smaller strips of tape. (Note: if you dont overlap the smaller strips of tape when you remove the paper backing your tape will come apart and your image will be in separate strips!!) I also didnt have adhesive foil tape so I just used mirror board and spread a very thin layer of glossy accents on the mirror board. I used my finger to spread it out very thin.

Craft Jamboree Fun!

On Sunday the 3rd December Crafting Ireland attended the Create With Kate Christmas Craft Jamboree.

We arrived to the event in Athlone at 9.45am and promptly started shopping as Kate had brought the shop along with her! After some restrained shopping we got our crafting spaces set up. There was a scheduled class at 11.30 which was to make a beautiful floral embellishment, with Anne teaching us. Her flowers are amazing and we really enjoyed the class and the resulting flower!

After the class we cropped away. We entered a few items into the challenge which was to create a card, scrpabook layout or altered item. The only rule was to use the stamps in the goodie back provided to us all. Not a bad rule at all!!

The creations entered into the challenges were amazing, all the ladies there just blew us away with their talent!

Nicole did a wreath making demo for everyone and showed how to make a quick and easy Christmas wreath.

Timi did a scrapbook layout class that showed some fantastic techniques for making a Christmas themed layout, including a crepe paper Poinsettia on it!

There were some more some fantastic demos. Anne did a demo on card making with the new Sizzix and Hero art sets and Kate showed us all what Frantage was!!

It was a superb day out, lots of shopping, crafting and goodies up for grabs. A big thank you to Kate for having us and roll on the next one!!
